As long-term residents of the South Street West neighborhood, the owners of Little Spoon and their dedicated team knew that the community yearned for a friendly eatery which offered an eclectic menu, great coffee, and a comfortable, inviting ambiance.
When space became available at 1500 South Street, despite its derelict condition, the Little Spoon vision was one step closer to reality. With the assistance of award-winning architect Josh Otto, the space was transformed into a sun-lit, cozy café, incorporating all of the structure’s original character, including outdoor garden seating (in season). Our inviting indoor seating and décor was assembled after months of scouring local flea markets and family attics.
Executive chef Aaron Margulis continually up-dates the menu based upon seasonal offerings, using local vendors. Meats are cured and smoked in-house, soups, dressings, jams, and all pastry/dessert items are prepared at the cafe. Daily specials also keep the menu surprising and fresh. Coffee is procured from local roaster Philly Fair Trade Coffee, and Franklin Fountain ice creams are offered in several rotating flavors.
Our goal was to create a neighborhood “go-to” spot for locals and area visitors. Whether you seek a spot for a quick latte and a breakfast to-go, a quiet lunch hunched over your computer, an afternoon respite, or a leisurely get-together with friends, Little Spoon’s diverse menu will please the palate, and our staff will make you feel right at home.
Little Spoon Café opened its doors in October, 2014. We continue to improve our restaurant every day, and appreciate the input of our patrons. We hope you find yourself at home, the way we have.
Thank you for being part of our story,
